Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident in southeastern Minnesota

Kasson, MN (KROC-AM News) – A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash in southeastern Minnesota.

A small SUV was also involved in the accident. The State Patrol responded to the accident in Dodge County around 8:20 Monday evening.

The State Patrol believes the accident occurred on the highway. 14 about three miles east of Kasson.

The motorcycle and SUV were traveling west when they collided at the highway’s intersection with Dodge County Road. 15, the State Patrol says.

The motorcyclist was identified as 29-year-old Jesse George Sweeter of Kasson. He suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the state accident report, and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

The Mayo One helicopter also responded to the scene. However, the report does not indicate whether Sweeter was flown or transported overland.

49-year-old Heather Ann Appel of Byron was driving the SUV. She was wearing a seatbelt and survived the accident uninjured.

According to the state accident report, alcohol was not involved and it is not known whether Sweeter was wearing a helmet.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Kasson Fire Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and Dodge Center Ambulance also responded to the accident.
