13-year-old girl accused of stabbing 7-year-old sister in argument over “flushing the toilet.”

A 13-year-old girl has been accused of stabbing her seven-year-old sister to death following an alleged argument over flushing the toilet.

The incident occurred Saturday at a home in Taylor, Michigan, as the teenager was babysitting her younger sister, Taylor detective Zachary Digiacomo told FOX2Detroit.

Police said a note about the toilet flushing was posted in the bathroom and a verbal altercation broke out between the siblings.

During the argument, the 13-year-old is said to have stabbed her sister in the stomach, head and neck with a butcher knife and a hunting knife. Police said the teen then called 911.

Authorities responded to the scene around 1 p.m. and found the victim in the bathroom suffering from over ten stab wounds.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

The teenager is now charged with first-degree premeditated murder, aggravated murder and first-degree child abuse.

“She was very calm and just showed no emotion,” Digiacomo said of the teen.

The identities of the victim and suspect were not released due to their ages.

The siblings’ parents told police they had left their older daughter behind to look after her younger sister for just two hours when the alleged attack unfolded. They insisted the siblings had only had “normal sibling arguments” so far, FOX2Detroit reported.

One of the family’s neighbors expressed shock at what happened.

“Just last night I spoke to her and now she’s gone… She used to ride her bike up and down the street every day, walk up and down the street, stop and talk to neighbors. She was just the sweetest little girl,” they told CBS News.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the teenager would not be tried as an adult but would remain in the youth justice system.

“Given her young age, the state would have seven years to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate her before she is compulsorily discharged at age 21,” Worthy said.

“Hopefully then she wouldn’t be a danger to others. Although this is a difficult decision given these facts, it is the right decision in this case.”

Worthy added: “There is absolutely no doubt that the facts in this case are terrible. It is more than disturbing that the person suspected of being responsible for the stabbing death of her seven-year-old sister is thirteen years old…
