Life sentence handed down in fatal Arlington knife attack – NBC4 Washington

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at an Arlington apartment building in June 2023.

Alimamy Fornah was convicted of first-degree murder in June for killing 37-year-old Shontae Crawford. According to police, Fornah stabbed Crawford in the neck after an argument in their apartment. They were already separated at this point and Crawford was pregnant with her new boyfriend Michael Webb’s child.

Sunday’s sentencing hearing included what the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said was a “powerful” victim impact statement from Crawford’s sister.

The hearing focused on Crawford’s life and not the gruesome nature of her death, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

“Although she suffered years of abuse at the hands of Mr. Fornah, she was a beloved sister, mother and friend,” the release said. “She lit up every room and enlivened those around her in small moments, like mimicking TikTok dance moves and grocery store photo shoots.” She was always surrounded by her loved ones but lived for her son, who has a heart as big as her she.”
