Former NCT singer Taeil has reportedly been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a drunk woman

Former NCT member Taeil has reportedly been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman with two other men.

In late August, SM Entertainment announced that Taeil had left K-pop boy band NCT after the agency learned that he had been “charged in a criminal case related to a sexual offense.” Although no details were disclosed, the agency said it had “decided that Taeil can no longer continue his activities at NCT due to the severity of the situation.”

Yesterday (October 7th), Chosun Ilbo reported that the K-pop singer was charged with two other non-celebrity men for allegedly sexually assaulting a drunk woman. He is currently being investigated for a particular case of quasi-rape.

Under South Korean law, the charge of “quasi-rape” refers to sexual assaults committed while armed with a weapon or when two or more people act together against a victim in a vulnerable state. This also includes the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Accordingly Korea JoongAng DailyIf found guilty, Taeil could be sentenced to more than seven years in prison or even life in prison.

In response to Monday’s reports, SM Entertainment said in a statement that it was “difficult to comment as the matter is currently under investigation.” OSEN.

Taeil debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT in the rotating sub-unit NCT U. He later became part of the permanent sub-unit NCT 127. Their last release was their July 2024 studio album “Walk”, led by the title track of the same names.
