Arrest for fatal stabbing in Stroudsburg

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police said he stabbed and killed another man during a fight in Stroudsburg.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, officers were called to the 300 block of Main Street in reference to a stabbing at approximately 4:15 p.m.

After further investigation, police concluded that the victim had arrived home to drop off his children with their mother.

The mother’s brother, Justin Martinez, 30, of Stroudsburg, got into a physical altercation with the victim that ended with Martinez stabbing the victim with a steak knife, according to the news release. When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim on the ground covered in blood and the knife was found near the porch.

Officers identified the victim as Roberto Lozano III, 41, of Stroudsburg. Lozano III was pronounced dead at 4:43 p.m

Investigators determined that Martinez actually called 911 and reported stabbing the victim. Martinez was charged with murder.
