Threat to a Catholic school in Garfield Heights leads to lockdown and police presence on campus

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A “disturbing voice message” led to a lockdown and increased police presence at Trinity High School on Monday.

School officials said they received a disturbing voicemail around 9:45 a.m. threatening possible violence.

The message indicated that someone was planning to “shoot up” the school, officials report.

According to a statement from the school, the high school contacted the Garfield Heights Police Department and imposed a lockdown.

Garfield Heights police were on campus the rest of the day, officials say, and an orderly dismissal of students ended the school day.

“Trinity High School implemented a family-by-family, in-person release protocol to ensure each student was safely released directly to their families at school,” a news release from the high school said.

Garfield Heights Police and other agencies are actively investigating the origin of the threat.
