Deshaun Watson is fight on the field for the Cleveland Browns. However, the embattled quarterback has cleared up his recent off-field issues. NBC Sports reported Monday that the former Pro Bowler settled a lawsuit in September accusing him of sexual assault and battery.

The alleged victim’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, confirmed the development to NBC Sports, announcing that his client’s case was closed and that the associated “agreement was confidential.”

The Alleged lawsuit that Watson exposed himself and then sexually assaulted a woman during a date at her apartment in 2020, when he was still a member of the Houston Texans. Watson”firmly disputed“The allegations were made by his attorney, Rusty Hardin, who told reporters at the time that he had the support of the Browns.

“I can’t speak for the fans, I can’t speak for anyone outside of this building,” Watson said, “but I know that when I hear from them.” [ownership] And [general manager Andrew Berry] And those guys, I know they tell me every day that they support me, that they have my back and want me to focus on being the best quarterback I can be. …You know my character. You see me every day. You know exactly who I am. And I think that’s the difference. If you are around me every day, you know my aura, you know my energy, you know my character, I think you would understand who I really am.

Watson’s settlement of this latest case, which came two years after more than 20 separate claims of sexual assault or misconduct, likely eliminates the possibility of his accuser speaking to the NFL about a possible violation of the league’s personal conduct policy, according to NBC Sports . The quarterback previously served an 11-game suspension for violating that policy in 2022, his first year with the Browns, but was never prosecuted for his alleged pattern of behavior.
