Three Mobile County residents face animal cruelty charges after dogs were found dead

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Three Mobile County residents have been charged with animal cruelty in connection with the discovery of four dead dogs in February.

Police said the dogs were locked in wire kennels without food or water.

A judge today appoints attorneys for Joyce Phillips and Phillis Williams, the two women who prosecutors accuse of being responsible for the dogs’ care. The dogs’ owner, Donald Marrero, is also charged with animal cruelty.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
