One person has been charged following a shooting at a motel in northwest Minot

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – One person was injured and later charged in a shooting at a northwest Minot motel Sunday morning.

Police said they responded to the motel around 6 a.m. and found evidence of a shooting.

Police located Deyan Luetzen, who suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg and right foot/ankle, according to court documents.

The affidavit states that officers found bullet holes inside the motel and a large amount of spent brass in the hallway outside Luetzen’s room.

According to the affidavit, Lützen told investigators he was alone and sleeping when he was shot and fled on foot, but denied owning a firearm or knowing who shot him.

Police said they found a gun in the field along the path Luetzen used to flee the motel.

He was charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm prohibited due to a previous conviction.

The shooting is still under investigation. It is unclear whether others will be charged.
