Kota: A 22-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself at her house in Ambedkar Nagar Kota‘S Vigyan Nagar Police station on Sunday evening. The police have filed a report Dowry death against the husband and in-laws and handed over the body to the family members after the autopsy on Monday morning.
The woman, identified as KarishnaWife of Manish Vermais said to have hanged herself in her room on Sunday evening, DSP Yogesh Sharma told TOI. The parents of the deceased alleged that her husband and in-laws had been harassing their daughter for dowry since her wedding in May this year, he said.
Based on the report, police filed a dowry death case against Manish Verma and other in-laws under sections of the BNS Act and initiated an investigation, the DSP said.
The police officer said no suicide note was found. Karishna is believed to have been two months pregnant; However, police said they will confirm this after the post-mortem report.
The deceased hailed from Nagarfort town in Tonk district, had a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree and was preparing for recruitment exams.
