A two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Richland Parish leaves one person dead

RICHLAND PARISH, La. (KNOE) – Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that killed 42-year-old Lonnie McIlvoy just after 9 a.m. on Oct. 7.

LSP says a 2016 Peterbilt was pulling a grain trailer traveling east on US Highway. 80. At the same time, McIlvoy was riding a motorcycle west on the US Highway. 80.

According to LSP, the Peterbilt turned left while attempting to enter La. for reasons still under investigation. Hwy to enter. 133. This resulted in the Peterbilt entering the path of the motorcycle and destroying the vehicle.

According to LSP, McIlvoy was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt.

Although LSP says it does not suspect any impairment, routine toxicology samples have been collected and are being submitted for analysis.
