GoFundMe is setting up to help Avon Teen’s family after serious accident

AVON, CT – The Avon community is coming together to help the family of an Avon High School sophomore who was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Friday night.

“Your son had the worst nightmare of his life and was hit in a hit-and-run accident while cycling in Avon. He is fighting for his life with serious injuries,” Eldrdidge wrote on the GoFundMe website.

“While his family is by his side, we would like to raise money to support his family now and in the future as they sit by Liam’s side and pray for a full recovery.”

She said Liam has a twin brother and plays soccer at Avon High School.

The current goal is to raise $30,000, with $16,517 already raised as of Monday afternoon.

On Friday, October 4, Avon Police charged a motorist in connection with a hit-and-run accident on Arch Road in Avon.

The driver was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment; Evading responsibility for serious bodily harm; driving a motor vehicle without a license; and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
