Frank Stronach has postponed his sexual harassment case until next month

The trial of billionaire businessman Frank Stronach, who has faced multiple sexual assault charges for decades, has been postponed to November 4th.

A Crown lawyer told a Brampton court today that the case is expected to be moved to Toronto, where most of the crimes are alleged to have occurred.

The 92-year-old Stronach was first charged in early June, and other complainants have come forward.

He now faces 18 charges relating to 13 accusers for alleged crimes dating from 1977 to February this year.

On Monday, Peel Regional Police (PRP) issued a press release This indicates that Stronach was charged with sexual assault as part of a historical investigation involving incidents that allegedly occurred between 1981 and 1994.

The five additional offenses were referred to the Ontario Court of Justice. The charges include one count each of rape, indecent assault on a woman and three counts of sexual assault.

“We recognize the high level of public interest in this investigation and are committed to providing updates responsibly and as necessary,” PRP wrote in the press release. “No additional information will be provided other than that contained in this press release until the next scheduled update.”

Stronach became one of Canada’s richest people in 1957 when he founded auto parts giant Magna in his garage. He also founded The Stronach Group, a company specializing in horse racing, and in 2018 Stronach International, a company focused on organic food and “micro-electric mobility.”

Stronach stepped down as Magna’s chief executive in 2011 and founded his own political party in his native Austria the following year.
