2024 College Football Playoff prediction and seeding for 12 teams after Week 6

2024 College Football Playoff prediction and seeding for 12 teams after Week 6

Week 6 of the college football season had the potential to be a big weekend with some big upsets, and it delivered great results. Losing streaks were broken, comebacks occurred and chaos ensued as Week 6 of the college football season is now in the books and in the record books.

After winning one of the most exciting games in college football history, Alabama had what seemed like one of its easiest SEC games this week against Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt was a team that was 0-60 against top-five teams in program history, the key word there is “was.” The Commodores came out and shocked the Crimson Tide and frankly shocked college football fans across the country by defeating the Crimson Tide for the first time in school history and eliminating the top team in the country.

After a chaotic week of football, here is my latest College Football Playoff prediction.

After not seeing much movement in the top four all season, we now have two new No. 1 teams two weeks in a row. The biggest change this week, however, is the fact that for the first time all season, the No. 1 team is not from the SEC. The No. 1 team this week is now the Ohio State Buckeyes, who got off to a bit of a slow start against the Iowa Hawkeyes but came out on top in the second half to take the dominant win.

The other big change in the SEC is that the Texas Longhorns now sit in the SEC champion spot instead of the Crimson Tide or Bulldogs. Texas secured this spot all the more because they had a bye this week and were rewarded for not even having a chance to be upset in a week full of such games.

Alabama and Tennessee plummeted in the rankings after pulling off major upsets as the Volunteers lost to Arkansas. The Volunteers didn’t look like themselves at any point in the game.

Due to the elimination of other teams like Missouri, Notre Dame is celebrating its big re-entry into the prediction rankings this week. Penn State and Oregon also take advantage of the defeats of teams ahead of them and thus get their chance to advance. UNLV suffered its first loss of the season, knocking them out of these rankings, and Boise State moved back as the top-ranked Group of Five team.
