1 person killed in overnight crash at Worcester Junction

One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Worcester Sunday evening, Worcester police confirmed Monday.

Officers went to the crash site at the intersection of Park Avenue and Highland Street around 11:40 p.m., said Joseph Cersosimo, Worcester police communications specialist.

It was immediately clear to the officers that the lone driver had died in the accident, he said.

While the accident is still under investigation, the vehicle initially appeared to have hit the curb before crashing into a traffic pole at the intersection, he added.

The police Crash Reconstruction Unit was also called to the crash site.
