Two people killed in crash in Jackson County

PULASKI TWP, Mich. (WILX) – A car accident in Jackson County left two people dead Sunday morning. According to Michigan State Police, at approximately 10:39 a.m., a 2012 Honda CR-V was traveling north on Pulaski Road near Swains Lake Road in Pulaski Township when it attempted to pass another vehicle. While attempting to overtake the witness vehicle, the CR-V went door-to-door with the witness vehicle onto the side of the road before losing control, leaving the roadway and striking a tree. The vehicle then caught fire while the occupants were still inside.

The fire was extinguished by the Concord Fire Department, but the two occupants were not identified. The police were able to contact family members and are confident they know the identities of the two people killed. However, the identities are being withheld until an autopsy is conducted on Monday to confirm them.

News 10 will update this story with their identities when that information becomes available.

Police said early Monday that it was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, but that the incident was still under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Michigan State Police Jackson Post at (517) 780-4580.
