Man involved in 2022 Chillicothe shooting returns to court

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The trial of a man accused of involvement in a July 2022 shooting in Chillicothe is scheduled to begin this week. According to Chillicothe Police, officers responded to reports of a shooting on July 15, 2022 at approximately 11:59 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered two 9mm shell casings at the scene and began an investigation.

During the course of their investigation, authorities determined that the shooting was related to an earlier assault. Officers were provided with a description of a vehicle associated with the incident and later conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. Inside, they found a loaded AK-47 rifle. Further investigation led to a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, recovering a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.

Several people were then charged. Camron RennerThe then 18-year-old Chillicothe resident was charged with improperly discharging a firearm at or into a dwelling and assault. He was indicted in August 2023 and his trial is scheduled to begin this week. He is currently incarcerated and serving a 4 to 6 year sentence for aggravated assault.

Others charged in connection with the incident include:

  • Quintin Maxwell20, of Chillicothe, charged with assault.
  • A 16-year-old youth was charged with assault, obstruction and improper handling of a firearm.
  • Brandon Parker22, charged with assault.
