Motorcyclist killed in U-Haul crash near N. Rancho Drive at Ricky Road | Local Las Vegas

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a U-Haul truck Sunday evening.

According to police, the fatal accident occurred Sunday around 6:23 p.m. on N. Rancho Drive at Ricky Road.

In a news release, police said evidence at the scene, video surveillance and witness statements indicated a 2011 Ford Econoline U-Haul truck was traveling north on Rancho Drive and made a U-turn at Ricky Road to head south on Rancho Drive. A 2007 Honda CBR 600RR was traveling south on Rancho Drive approaching the intersection of Ricky Road.P

According to police, the accident occurred when the front of the Honda hit the right side of the Ford. The motorcyclist, who was just a 23-year-old man, was thrown from the vehicle onto the road.

The motorcyclist was transported to UMC Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the driver of the Ford remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The identity of the motorcyclist and the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The motorcyclist’s death is the 116th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police jurisdiction in 2024. The accident remains under investigation.
