BRAINTREE – New England Patriots safety and team captain Jabrill Peppers was arrested on charges including strangulation and drug possession following an incident in Braintree, Massachusetts, on Saturday.

Braintree police announced Peppers’ arrest Monday.

According to police, an altercation occurred between two people at a home that led to Peppers’ arrest.

He is expected to be charged with assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of a Class B drug, which police say was cocaine.

The victim was treated at the scene, police said.

Peppers, a 29-year-old safety, did not play on Sunday Defeat of the team to the Miami Dolphins because of a shoulder injury.

He is expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday.
