A man is killed in a crash in Franklin County and a second driver leaves the scene

A fatal accident occurred on October 5, 2024 at approximately 4:38 p.m. on northbound Oak Grove Church Road, north of Mill Hill Road in Franklin County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1999 Ford driven by 41-year-old Jody A. Pierce of Salem, Missouri, was traveling northbound when the vehicle went off the right side of the road.

Jody Pierce attempted to get the vehicle back on the road, but a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by 45-year-old Donald A. Pierce of Union, Missouri, struck the rear of her vehicle. The collision caused the Ford to cross the middle of the road, turn left and overturn. The top of the vehicle hit a tree before driving down an embankment into a river and coming to rest there.

Jody Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene by Meramec Ambulance personnel at 4:57 p.m. Donald Pierce left the scene after the accident. Jody Pierce’s vehicle was totaled and was towed by Vogelgesang Towing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Union Police Department.
