New on Netflix: 5 movies and series to watch this week (October 7-13)

One of Netflix’s biggest hits is one of the top new releases on Netflix this week.

“Outer Banks” was a runaway success in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it remained a fan favorite even after we could go outside and touch grass again. This show about a group of young treasure hunters known as the Pogues is full of drama and great cinematography. Watch the first five episodes of “Outer Banks” season 4 when they release on Thursday.

As far as movies go, we have a new Netflix original. “Lonely Planet” is a steamy love story set on a writer’s vacation in Morocco. The film stars Laura Dern as a newly single novelist who attracts the attention of Liam Hemsworth. With “Scream” (2022) and “A Quiet Place Part II” there are also some killer horror films coming onto the market.

“Love is Blind” is back and this time the hit reality show is coming to Washington, D.C. Married hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey brought along a few dozen local singles to see who’s ready to join this blind dating show. Reality TV show to get engaged unseen.

However, season 7 is not without new twists. The singles this season also include sisters Tara and Nina. It is the first time siblings have appeared on the series in the same season.

“Love is Blind” premiered its seventh season last Wednesday, with the first six episodes dropping all at once. There are three more episodes this week, two more coming next Wednesday and the season finale coming out on Wednesday October 23rd.

“Outer Banks Season 4: Part 1”

The fourth season of “Outer Banks” premieres this week with the first five episodes of the season. The group of teenagers from North Carolina, nicknamed the Pogues, have already had some wild adventures. Between all the drama, fighting, and romance, there was some serious treasure hunting, including when they discovered the lost city of El Dorado

Unfortunately, this mischievous teenager has gambled away their money from the lost city of gold and is looking for a new film. In this season they go in search of the sunken treasure of Edward Teach, the feared pirate Blackbeard. The first five episodes will be released this Thursday, with the second episode of five following in November.

If you love a steamy romantic movie, Lonely Planet is for you. This Netflix original stars Laura Dern as Katherine Loewe, a single writer who has just arrived at an idyllic writers’ retreat in Morocco. Katherine is working on her latest book, but she soon catches the attention of Owen Brophy (Liam Hemsworth) and suddenly her novel is no longer the only thing on her mind.

Of course it can’t be that simple. Owen brings complications – namely that his girlfriend (Diana Silvers) is also at the writers’ retreat. Will this love story have a happy ending or turn into a relationship-destroying drama? See for yourself when Lonely Planet hits Netflix this Friday.

You know Halloween is officially here when all streaming services start adding horror movies. And while Netflix isn’t adding the original 1996 film Scream – you’ll need Max for that – the 2022 sequel of the same name is definitely worth watching.

“Scream” (2022), also known as “Scream 5,” takes place 25 years after the original film. It begins with the murderous Ghostface attacking teenager Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) in her Woodsboro home. When she is hospitalized, her estranged sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) returns to visit Tara in the hospital, but then another girl (Sonia Ammar) is killed. Sam enlists the help of Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and warns Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) that the killer from her past is back to learn more.

If Scream (2022) isn’t enough horror for you, just wait another day and watch A Quiet Place Part II. It is not the sequel to “A Quiet Place”. quite as good as the original, but don’t let that fool you. This is a great horror film, and that’s coming from a man who is picky when it comes to horror films.

After the first film, Emily Blunt reprises her role as Evelyn Abbott, mother of three and survivor of the alien apocalypse that has devastated the Earth, in “A Quiet Place Part II.” After the loss of her husband, she searches for survivors and finds Emmett (Cillian Murphy), one of her husband’s old friends. While with Emmett, her daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) discovers that there is a group of survivors on some nearby islands and that she may hold the key to their rescue.
