Kamloops Players Society Brings Comedy to Dark Subjects in Upcoming Performances – Kamloops News

Tragic pieces that make you laugh

Local actors and playwrights will apply comic absurdity to morbid themes in successive plays coming to the stage later this year.

Part of the Kamloops Players Society’s third annual drama series, the two one-act plays will “challenge audiences to confront the absurdity of their own mortality.”

The first series, titled Allen’s Nine Murders, written by Andrew Robertson and Dan Ondang, is about a telemarketer who experiences a crisis of consciousness and begins volunteering to cold call a suicide hotline.

The second film is titled “The Murder of Arthur Wong” and was also written by Ondang. It deals with a dystopian society where government approval is required to die.

“The cast and crew of Fall into Drama invite Kamloops to an evening of questionable relationships, suspicious deaths and dark comedy,” said a press release from the Kamloops Players Society.

Performances take place from November 27th to December 1st at the Pavilion Theater. Tickets will be available online at the Kamloops Live Box Office beginning October 7th.
