Women tell harrowing stories of sexual harassment at Disney World, Spark calls for action

As Walt Disney World increasingly focuses on an adult audience, Disney has had to make compromises to meet the needs of adults. One of those changes was the serving of alcohol in the parks.

Walt Disney wanted his parks to be “family friendly” and strongly opposed the sale of alcohol there. However, Disney World has since changed this policy and allows guests to consume alcohol in any park.

This policy change has also led to problems. EPCOT has turned into a frat party every Saturday night, with drunk guests taking over the park. However, new stories from women have come to light that show Disney may want to rethink these compromises.

Several Disney World guests took to X (formerly Twitter) to raise allegations of sexual harassment against other guests during their stay at Disney World. It started when a woman shared her story of being called “cat-calling” by other guests while she was at a Disney park.

After this one guest shared her story, other women came forward with additional allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment at the Disney Parks. While other guests shared their stories, others agreed that sexual misconduct has no place anywhere, let alone at a Disney park.

There is a sexual misconduct policy in place when a co-worker harasses a Disney World employee. However, there is no policy in place in the event a guest commits such a violation.

Because sexual harassment is a crime in Florida, anyone who commits the crime at Disney World is subject to local law and will be banned from the parks for life. However, it would be difficult to prove unless someone overhears it or records it on video.

Some said she should have told Disney World employees about the person, but if the Disney employee didn’t witness the encounter, the person would simply deny it.

Disney World is full of children and all guests should set a good example when visiting the parks.

It’s important to remember that no matter where you are or how much you paid for entry, there is no place for unwanted sexual encounters. It doesn’t matter if you think it’s flattering; it is not, undesirable and not right.

If everyone tried to be a better person, the Disney World experience could be magical for everyone. Everyone should be able to enjoy the parks without fear of ever being harassed.

Have you ever been harassed at a Disney Park?
