Banned TikTok influencer boasts about being thin enough to wear children’s clothes

An influencer who was banned from TikTok for promoting an unhealthy “skinny” lifestyle is facing a new round of backlash – this time over her favorite money-saving trick: shopping in the children’s department.

Liv Schmidt, 22, was banned from the social media platform in late September for her dangerous weight loss advice and glorification of disordered eating habits.

Schmidt has been criticized for her videos that feature sparse dinner plates, including her “Skinny Girl Breakfast,” which consists only of protein shakes and electrolyte drink mixes, according to her Amazon listing.

In one of her latest videos, she shows off her latest skirt from Zara – which she bought in the children’s section for $35 less than the adult version.

“The biggest trick to saving money when shopping is children’s clothing, like designers have t-shirts for kids that cost around $200 instead of $1,000 like adults – for a cute baby t-shirt “ says her caption.

Following the backlash she received, Schmidt began discussing obesity in America while highlighting her body even more than before on her new TikTok account.

“In a world where you can be anything, be skinny,” reads the caption of her video, in which she shows off her outfit and claims that her flat stomach is her accessory for the evening.

On social media apps like TikTok, misspelled words can make it difficult to tag posts, which is why Schmidt has now switched to using “skinni” instead of the correct spelling.

In another post, she claimed that she was banned in the first place because she was “too skinny” for the platform.

X users have been quick to share their misguided, if not downright problematic, advice with their young audience.

“I like her advice, but she’s a terrible person. I was in her skinny girl GC and she said some vile things,” one X user wrote. “She’s living this Regina George persona in her old age, it’s very strange. Just one example is that she called a girl in the emergency room recovery fat.”

“Liv Schmidt is crazy. “She makes me smile and this video will definitely get stuck in my head. The way I’m built is the way she is,” another user wrote.

Schmidt denies ever struggling with an eating disorder, but said she knows what it’s like to feel uncomfortable in your body after struggling with generalized anxiety disorder since elementary school.
