Bills are under fire for bringing Josh Allen back into the game after a horrific head injury

The Buffalo Bills are doing what Josh Allen did, making his recent injury even worse for one of the AFC’s best teams. Truth be told, the AFC East division runs through Buffalo this season, especially after the New York Jets’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. The Bills entered Week 5 in a hard-fought game with a chance to grab a two-game lead over perhaps their biggest rival in the division.

While a win would be nice, a healthy Allen is far better. During the scramble, Allen was scary and unintentionally hit in the head by a Houston defender.

UPDATE: Allen is back in the game, which some experts have questioned.

Considering Tua Tagoviloa is in the same division, one can only hope the Bills were confident in their decision making.

If Josh Allen is forced to miss time, Mitchell Trubisky, a former first-round pick of the Chicago Bears who was brought back by the Bills this offseason, would be the next man up. Trubisky is a valued presence in Buffalo’s QB room, but he is by no means Allen. Bills fans know this all too well.

The Bills have built their entire offense around Allen, and his cap hit reflects that. Buffalo was more than willing to trade Stefon Diggs in the offseason (ironically to the Texans) with the thought that Allen could make the players around him better. An improved running game with James Cook also proved productive thanks to the greater emphasis on the rushing attack.

Josh Allen will likely be evaluated for a concussion. Unless he can clear the concussion protocol quickly enough, the Bills would be wise to keep him on the ice until next week. Yes, a loss to the Texans would hurt, especially considering Diggs is on the opposing sideline. Losing everyone for more than a quarter would be even more painful.
