Nebraska flags fly at half-mast in honor of the victims of the Israeli terrorist attack

On Sunday, Gov. Jim Pillen announced that the U.S. and Nebraska flags will be flown at half-mast on Monday, Oct. 7, to honor the victims of last year’s terrorist attack on Israel. The attack, orchestrated by Hamas, claimed the lives of 1,200 innocent men, women and children. Over 250 people were taken hostage and more than 100 are still missing, including four Americans.

As part of this remembrance, the State Capitol will be lit blue, symbolizing Nebraska’s continued support for Israel. Governor Pillen will also meet with Nebraska’s Jewish community to commemorate the attack and issue a proclamation condemning anti-Semitism and terrorism.

Last week, Governor Pillen said:

Israel remains the target of state-sponsored terrorism. This is a dangerous and devastating situation, not only for the people of Israel, but also for the Jewish communities here in Nebraska. We must counter anti-Semitism and discrimination in all forms. The lighting of the Capitol is a visual representation of this commitment.
