FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A man was arrested for firing a gun at a 7-Eleven gas station employee in downtown Fresno.

Police were called to the 7-Eleven on Blackstone Avenue near Harvey Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say a homeless man, identified as 30-year-old Martin Carlos Aceves, tried to steal from the store three weeks ago.

The clerk confronted Aceves and led him out of the store.

According to investigators, Aceves returned to the 7-Eleven on Sunday and fired a shot.

Aceves then opened fire on the employee who was outside cleaning the gas pumps at the gas station.

The employee was not hit, but officials said an empty car nearby was struck.

Police arrested Aceves without incident at a nearby highway embankment on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
