The UNLV Rebels and Utah State Aggies meet Friday in college football action at Maverik Stadium. Here is a prediction between Utah State and UNLV. We’ll look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best choice between Utah State and UNLV.

UNLV Rebels betting preview

The Rebels started their season with some notable wins against Houston (27-7) and Utah Tech (72-14). UNLV picked up a 23-20 win over Kansas to advance, then topped Fresno State 59-14 in game four to remain perfect on the year.

Last Friday against Syracuse, UNLV rallied from an initial 14-0 deficit but ultimately lost in overtime, 44-41, by a difficult score. QB Hajj-Malik Williams finished the game with 227 yards, three scores and a pick (with a rush TD). Ricky White caught 10 balls for 135 yards and a score.

Utah State Aggies betting preview

The Aggies earned a 36-14 win against Robert Morris in their opening game. After two tough matchups against USC (48-0 loss) and Utah (38-21 loss), Utah State continued its slide with a 45-29 loss to Temple in game four.

In the Boise State game, the Aggies were outscored 49-17 in the first half and ultimately lost 62-30. QB Spencer Petras recorded 372 yards with three touchdowns and Rahsul Faison carried 26 times for 109 yards and a TD. Jalen Royals led receivers with 211 yards and two touchdowns from nine grabs.

Utah State vs UNLV Prediction

I’ll probably stay at UNLV. The Rebels recorded 354 total yards (227 passes) and 7.1 yards per play during their narrow OT loss to Syracuse. However, the defense had difficulty getting off the field as the Orange recorded 39:38 time of possession, 492 yards (355 passes), 34 first downs and 11 of 18 on third-down attempts. UNLV’s nine penalties for 108 yards didn’t help either.

As for Utah State, they had a nice offensive performance (507 total yards) in their matchup against Boise State. However, on the other side, the Aggies also gave up 599 yards (296 rushing), 8.1 yards per play and 27 first downs. This means that 38 or more points have been given up in four games in a row. UNLV should have plenty of options here.
