Ne-Yo made a “tone-deaf” comment about sexual assault during a live show in New Zealand, just weeks after Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on sex trafficking and extortion charges.

The 44-year-old American singer-songwriter is currently embarking on his Champagne & Roses world tour, with his most recent performance taking place in Auckland, New Zealand.

While the tour was highly anticipated by his fans, the Closer singer was criticized for a “tone-deaf” comment about sexual assault after he pulled a member out of the crowd and invited her to dance on him.

Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, said during his recent show: “Ladies and gentlemen, I was sexually abused and I liked it.” “I had a great time and I would do it again.”

New Zealand Herald has reported that the comment came after he picked three women from the crowd and invited them on stage “where they take turns gyrating and grinding against Ne-Yo”.

The issue has been particularly sensitive in recent weeks following the arrest of 54-year-old Diddy, who was accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault and extortion. Over 100 suspected victims have come forward, including a nine-year-old boy.

The news outlet reported that the Grammy winner is “more than happy” with the women, but especially with the third woman, who he refers to as his “future baby mama.”

He then made the shocking comment to a fan, Lana Andelane, who exclaimed: “The remark feels tone-deaf and tasteless.”

Ne-Yo’s comments come just weeks after his ex-girlfriend and mother of two of his children, Sade Bagnerise, compared him to Diddy and insinuated that he had attacked her.

In an Instagram Live video from April this year, Sade pointed the camera at Ne-Yo and said, “Tell ’em about the freak-off, Diddy Junior.”

She then claimed: “This n***a likes to have hoes, drugs, weed, alcohol, mushrooms and prostitutes in the house while his kids are here.”

“Everyone has been begging him to stop but he won’t listen to anyone. “I even came here to help him with those damn kids because he doesn’t want to take care of those kids.”

In the video, the rapper was seen denying Sade’s claims and asking her to leave his house because she was causing a “riot.”

Shortly after filming the video, she later apologized to her social media followers, claiming her behavior was due to a combination of issues that included her menstrual cycle, postpartum depression and co-parenting frustrations.

Ne-Yo has not been accused of any wrongdoing regarding his relationship with Sade, his children, or any possible connection to Diddy.
