The recipient of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be announced on Wednesday, October 9th.

A trio of American scientists received the award last year for their work on quantum dots. Moungi Bawendi of MIT, Louis Brus of Columbia University and Alexei Ekimov of Nanocrystals Technology Inc. shared the prize for research into tiny particles that can emit bright colors and are used in medical imaging, consumer electronics and more.
