King’s former butler among housemates at the start of the new Big Brother series

A former royal butler is among the contestants as the new series of Big Brother began on ITV2 this evening.

Nathan, 24, who revealed he was once a butler to Charles before becoming a pork seller, said he also worked with Queen Camilla.

Hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best opened the show with Odudu announcing: “If you still can’t believe Brat Summer is officially over, then get ready for Big Brother Fall.”

The 36-year-old said the 16 housemates would be announced soon, with the winner taking home £100,000, and said contestants had to make a “very important decision” during the opening show.

The first contestant to be announced was 29-year-old dental assistant Rosie, who exclaimed: “I can’t believe I’m here” before entering the house.

In a clip before her arrival, she said: “The first impression people have of me is that I can seem strange and annoying at times, and yes, that’s actually pretty accurate.”

“I love tea, I literally drink 20 cups a day, it’s no joke.

“If someone messes around with the old tea bags I will make someone tea bags, no I won’t do that, I have no balls but I will do something, probably nothing.”

Beautician Emma, 53, came in next and said she would “bring humor and a bit of cheekiness into the house”.

She said: “Because I’m a woman of a certain age, having fun means coming home after work, taking off your bra and spilling the tea.

“I’ve had so many girls come up to me, I always thought you were right, bitch, but actually you’re pretty, aren’t you?”

When the pair met at the house, Rosie said to Emma: “You look great” before asking: “Shall we have a drink?”

Next up was 25-year-old Segan, who said he was “raised in a Christian household” and said he had “so much faith” that he could win the show.

He was followed by Nathan, who said before entering the house: “The first impression people have of me might be that I’m a bit snooty and slightly in love with myself, which isn’t entirely wrong.”

“Politically speaking, definitely on the right side of center, I would strangely admire Nigel Farage.

“I think I’m different from other people my age.

“I listen to Radio 2, I read an old-fashioned newspaper and I vote Tory.”

Nathan was followed into the house by 24-year-old climate activist Daize, who said another housemate who “doesn’t believe in climate change” was “bringing the heat”.

They were followed by 23-year-old Khaled before it was announced that the house had been split between red and blue and the candidates had to choose a side.

After choosing a side, they were told that they would have to convince the new candidates to join their side.
