Man dies in Riverhead crash involving two motorcycles: police

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — An East Hampton man died Sunday after a two-motorcycle crash on Old Country Road in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the accident occurred around 8:21 a.m. near Target. A 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R driven by Christian Gutierrez, 21, of East Hampton crashed into a 2006 Yamaha R6 driven by Rodolfo Castillo, 54, of Southampton, police said.

Gutierrez suffered numerous injuries and died from those injuries at the scene, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department’s Detective Division and the New York State Police Department’s Forensic Investigation Unit responded to assist in the investigation, police said.

There is no suspicion of criminality; However, the investigation is still ongoing, police said.
