According to police, human remains were found along the Ohio River near Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WCHS) — Human remains were discovered on the Ohio River near Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to a statement from the Portsmouth Police Department, the remains were discovered by a citizen on the riverbank east of Offnere Street around 2:30 p.m. Police responded immediately to the scene and confirmed a deceased person on the river bank.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be determined, but the remains were taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Portsmouth Police advised that any agencies with missing persons in the area should contact the agency to speak with detectives.
