Columbia man arrested after attempted fire extinguisher attack on 9th Street

A Columbia man was arrested after police said he tried to attack a man with a fire extinguisher and then barricaded himself in a store.

At 11:45 a.m. Saturday, someone called police to the 10 block of North Ninth Street.

People reported to police that a man threatened people and attempted to attack a man with a fire extinguisher.

They said he then tried to get into two cars before barricading himself in a store.

Officers arrested the man, identified as Cameron Comstock, 24, of Columbia, on charges of disturbing the peace, fourth-degree assault, second-degree tampering, third-degree kidnapping and resisting arrest.

They then took him to the Boone County Jail.
