Man sexually abuses woman at TRNSMT Music Festival

Lewis Bailey, 27, from Milngavie, was recently sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman.

According to court documents, Bailey followed the woman at the TRNSMT Music Festival held at Glasgow Green on July 9, 2023.

The indictment goes on to say that he tried to kiss her, whereupon they both fell to the ground.

Addressing Bailey, Sheriff Mark McGuire said: “This was a serious crime. You were very drunk and the woman was worried about you.

“You talked about your attraction to her, but she wasn’t interested. She tried to lose you in the crowd, but you persevered.

“You followed her, talked to her and tried to kiss her. She was distraught and received support from members of the public.

“You were so drunk you don’t remember the incident, but the victim doesn’t have that luxury.

“Your sexual assault on her will stay with her for a long time.”

Sheriff McGuire imposed a community payback order on Bailey with social work supervision for 12 months and a behavioral requirement to attend alcohol treatment.

He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and is now subject to reporting requirements for 12 months.
