“Sophie Turner’s CW drama ‘Joan’ heads into the new night”

After a last-minute schedule adjustment, Sophie Turner’s new series starts at the weekend.

After premiering this Wednesday in the US, The CW has postponed the true crime drama created by Anna Symon Joan to Fridays at 9:00 p.m. ET starting October 11th, time slot changes with Within the NFL.

In the six-part limited series, Turner plays Joan “The Godmother” Hannington, a devoted mother trapped in an abusive relationship who seizes the opportunity to build a new life for herself and her daughter when her husband goes on the run. They take on new identities and Joan soon becomes a jewel thief and embarks on a risky journey, driven by the desire to care for her daughter and create a safe home for both of them.

Joan Also starring are Frank Dillane, Kirsty J. Curtis, Gershwyn Eustache Jr., Laura Aikman, Nick Blood, Jack Greenlees, Alex Blake, Caroline Faber and Dorothy Atkinson.

Inspired by Hannington’s 2004 memoir I am what I amThe Snowed-In Productions series is directed by Richard Maxton. Joan airs on CBC in Canada and ITV in the UK, with all episodes streaming on ITVX. All3Media International is the distributor.
