Odisha: Two-year-old minor girl sexually abused by father’s friend in Rourkela

A minor girl was allegedly sexually abused by her father’s boyfriend in Rourkela in Odisha for the last two years, police said on Sunday.

The incident came to light when the girl’s family lodged a formal complaint with the police, alleging that the man had sexually abused their daughter for the past two years.

They also alleged that the accused threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the matter to her family.

According to police, the minor girl was sent for medical examination.

The accused, a resident of Civil Township, had fled after the girl lodged a complaint with the police.

Police also said that the accused was involved in various illegal activities and the Raghunathpalli police are currently investigating the case.

Following the complaint, police have registered a case against the man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A police team was deployed to arrest the accused.

“The accused is absconding with his family as he had early information that the girl’s family had lodged a complaint against him. Currently, medical tests are being conducted on the minor,” said Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani India Today TV.
