Woman killed, 9 injured in Beersheba terrorist attack; Attacker neutralized

A woman died and nine others were injured in a terrorist attack at the central Beersheba bus station in southern Israel on Sunday. The attacker who was shot dead by security forces reportedly operated in several locations before being neutralized.

Magen David Adom (MDA) first responders treated a seriously injured woman at the scene, reportedly a 20-year-old border police officer, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at Soroka Medical Center. Another woman suffered serious injuries, four others received moderate injuries and three others suffered minor injuries.

Police are investigating whether the attacker used both a gun and a knife in the rampage, as witnesses reported hearing gunshots. Authorities have yet to determine whether the terrorist had accomplices and have urged the public to avoid the area while Southern District forces secure the site.

Describing the chaotic scene, MDA paramedics said: “We provided initial treatment to the victims, including several people who suffered emotional shock due to the nature of the attack.”

In a statement, police spokesman Aryeh Doron urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. “We are still in the middle of the incident,” he said, adding that searches are still ongoing to ensure the area is fully secured.
