Shooting near Tarboro Carnival causes ‘mass panic’

TARBORO, N.C. (WNCT) – Tarboro police launched an investigation after shots were fired near a carnival Saturday night.

According to a department Facebook post, multiple shots were fired in the area of ​​Wilson Street near Office Street around 7:30 p.m. These shots were fired in the parking lot of Abrams BBQ.

“At the time of the incident, a carnival was taking place across the street, which led to mass panic. “Fortunately, with the assistance of law enforcement, numerous people were able to evacuate the area safely and quickly,” police said.

No injuries were reported, but investigators found property damage from the gunfire.

The investigation is ongoing and Tarboro police ask anyone with information to call the department at 252-641-4247.
