Seven people, including children, die in a tragic fire in Chembur

Seven people, including two children, died in a devastating fire in Mumbai’s Chembur district on Sunday. The tragedy occurred at 5:20 am when the fire broke out on the ground floor of a multi-storey building at Plot No. 16/1, Sidharth Colony, KN Gaikwad Marg.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation confirmed the deaths and identified the victims as members of the Gupta family, including three children who died in the incident. The deceased are named Presi Prem Gupta (6), Manju Prem Gupta (30), Anita Dharamdev Gupta (39) and several others.

According to Hemraj Singh Rajput, Assistant Commissioner of Police Zone 6, the family lived on the upper floors of the building while there was a shop on the ground floor. Initial reports said the fire started due to a short circuit near the electrical wiring on the ground floor. Emergency services responded immediately, but the cause remains under investigation.
