Christine McGuinness finds dating after split from Paddy McGuinness ‘scary’ as she hints her ex-husband is also looking for love again

Christine McGuinness says it’s “really scary” to start dating again.

The 36-year-old model split from former Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness, 51, in 2021 after just over a decade of marriage.

But she has now admitted that she was very cautious about putting herself back on the market, especially as she had never actually dated complete strangers before.

She told the Sunday Mirror: “I started dating in June and it’s the first time in my life I’ve ever gone on a date, which is really scary. “Even when I was younger I used to meet people a lot , who I was already friends with.

“Going on dates with people you don’t know is completely new to me and I’m doing it for the first time in my 30s.” I avoided it for as long as possible because I knew I wasn’t capable ‘To have a serious relationship.’

The former Real Housewives Star admitted that after their split three years ago, she knew it was “best to stay single and I was celibate for a long time.”

She added: “It took me a long time to be single and get to know myself again. It was the best thing I could have done because now I know that I am happy on my own. I am independent. I can give myself everything I need.’

The occasional Loose Women panellist also learned that she can be “happy” alone but is now at a stage where she would like to share her life with someone.

But when asked about her ex-husband’s love life, Christine insisted that what he does in his personal life is “no longer any of her business.”

Christine co-parents twins Penelope and Leo, 11, and Felicity, eight, with Paddy and admitted the pair will discuss things further at some point in the future.

She noted that this is likely to be the case whenever one of them enters into a serious relationship that provides the children with a stepparent.

Paddy recently insisted he would “support” his wife if she met someone else.

But in March, Christine – who was diagnosed with autism along with her children – explained that she “doesn’t like change”, and yet she realized that after 15 years as a “wife and mother” she longed to find out who she was as a person was.

She explained: “We’re actually not like any other family I know.” I love the way we are. I try not to compare myself to any other family because we’re actually not like any other family I know.
