shots fired at NOPD officers; Suspect barricaded in house, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – NOPD responded to an officer’s call for help in the 3100 block of North Tonti Street in the Treme neighborhood after shots were fired at officers.

The incident began around 6:50 p.m. when officers served an arrest warrant. Although shots were fired, police say there are currently no reports of injuries.

The suspect involved has barricaded himself in a residence and the NOPD has set up a large perimeter around the crime scene.

A SWAT team has not yet been deployed, but the situation remains active.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area near Feliciana Street and North Miro Street while the investigation continues.
