Jamie Foxx didn’t let a medical emergency stop him from celebrating his daughter Corinne Foxx’s engagement.

And neither does her current husband, Joe Wooten. When he decided to propose to Corinne Foxx in 2023, he moved the venue of his proposal to Chicago, where the Oscar winner was being treated at a rehabilitation center in the city after suffering from an undisclosed medical complication, bringing the celebrations later in order to the actor’s bed.

“When my father became ill, our plans changed and we spent the summer in Chicago while he recovered,” she told Vogue in an interview published on October 3. “I didn’t know that Joe had changed his plans so he could propose on the same day — just in a different city.” He found a park in Chicago where cherry blossoms were blooming and proposed to him there.

The 30-year-old continued: “He flew my mom in from Los Angeles and had my aunts FaceTiming with my dad hiding in a bush the whole time. He even planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room in Chicago. It.” It was a small celebration, but it was so intimate and meaningful.

And Jamie ended up hosting the main event. Corinne and Wooten married on September 21 at his home in Thousand Oaks, California, and her father proudly walked her down the aisle. The father-daughter duo came full circle.

Jamie Foxx, who appears on the game show Beat Shazam alongside Corinne Foxx, had credited both his daughter and sister Deidra Dixon with saving his life following his medical emergency. Although he hasn’t revealed his diagnosis, he has shared some details about his illness, previously noting that he was “gone for 20 days.”

Last December, after taking the stage to accept the prestigious Vanguard Award at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television Honoring Black, Latino & AAPI Achievements, he said: “It’s crazy, I was able to do this for six months “Don’t do it for a long time.” I actually couldn’t walk.

He continued, “I appreciate every single minute right now.”

Jamie Foxx is emotionally reflecting on his recent health scare.
