“It was chaos”: Melania Trump “questions the results” of the 2020 election in her new memoir

Melania Trump doesn’t agree with her husband on every issue, but when it comes to conspiracies surrounding the 2020 election, she’s sticking by his side.

In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir published by The New York Times, Trump made it clear that she believes there was something fishy about the election, which former President Donald Trump easily lost to Joe Biden.

“It was chaos. Many Americans still have doubts about the election to this day,” she wrote. “I’m not the only one questioning the results.”

Donald Trump launched an extensive legal and public relations campaign challenging the 2020 election results. His zeal and insistence that democracy had been undermined led to an insurrection that breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Nearly four years later, Melania still holds on to some of the beliefs that spurred a mob to action.

She questioned the need to “count the votes for days” after the election, ignoring the need for accuracy in close, statewide elections.

Donald Trump is currently facing a massive election interference investigation orchestrated by special counsel Jack Smith. A recent filing by Smith detailed just how far Trump was willing to go to disrupt the certification of the election results on January 6th.

For her part, Melania says she focused on White House renovations during the riots. According to the Times, she blamed the lack of response to the storming of the Capitol on her public relations team, which she said was “behind schedule.”
