Saturday Morning Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured: Pine Bluff PD

A shooting in Pine Bluff left one person dead and another injured, the Pine Bluff Police Department announced in a post on its Facebook page.

According to police, at 11 a.m. Oct. 5, officers responded to reports of a shooting on E. 34th Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near 34th and Missouri.

The man, 29-year-old Otis Daniels, was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said they found the crime scene near the front door of a residence and arrested 44-year-old John Carter in connection with the incident.

In their post, police said witnesses said Daniels came to the apartment for an unknown reason. At some point, Daniels began punching Carter in the face.

Police say Carter then retrieved a revolver from his home and shot Daniels multiple times.

According to police, Carter was transported to JRMC to receive treatment for injuries sustained as a result of the battery. According to law enforcement, Carter will be charged with murder following his release from JRMC.
