Police arrest wanted fugitive from Illinois in Branson, Missouri.

BRANSON, Missouri (KY3/WGEM) – Branson officers arrested a wanted Quincy, Illinois man after he turned off his GPS monitor two hours after his temporary release.

Illinois authorities arrested William Whidbee Jr., 39, on September 24 following a domestic incident. Whidbee was initially charged with domestic battery strangulation.

At Whidbee’s first appearance on Sept. 26, he was granted a temporary release with a GPS monitor. Police said Whidbee turned off the monitor two hours after he was released.

Police tracked him to Branson and arrested him a short time later. He is now in the Taney County Jail awaiting extradition.
