Michael Schumacher’s family reacts to rumors about the Formula 1 icon’s condition – report

Recent rumors surrounding Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher have reignited public interest, particularly following reports of his attendance at his daughter Gina-Maria’s wedding.

However, the Schumacher family remains committed to maintaining privacy about his condition despite the constant speculation.

In 2013, the seven-time Formula 1 champion’s life changed after a skiing accident in the French Alps. Although Schumacher was wearing a helmet, he suffered a severe skull fracture that required emergency air transport to a hospital. Since then, there have been few details about his health, largely due to the family’s concerted efforts to get the story surrounding his condition under control. Corinna Schumacher, his wife, was particularly careful to maintain his privacy and respected the discretion that Schumacher valued during his F1 career.

Public speculation about Schumacher’s health has remained a persistent topic over the years, occasionally fueled by reported appearances or statements from people connected to his past.

A notable example came in 2020 when Elisabetta Gregoraci, the ex-wife of Schumacher’s former boss Flavio Briatore, controversially stated during an appearance on the Italian show Big Brother:

“Michael doesn’t speak, he communicates with his eyes.

“They moved to Spain and his wife set up a hospital in this house.

“Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.”

According to recent reports, the Schumacher family, along with his management, immediately refuted these claims, further increasing the uncertainty about his actual health.

Despite the family’s steadfast stance on privacy, the public’s curiosity is not waning, especially among his loyal fan base. Many enthusiasts still hope for a public sighting of the former driver, buoyed by the idea that he could be present at significant family gatherings.

Although there has been little news from the family since his accident, Corinna shared in the Netflix documentary “Schumacher,” as reported by Marca.com (translated by Google):

“I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me who misses him.”

“It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. Everyone misses Michael, but Michael is here – different, but here. He still shows me how strong he is every day.”

“We are trying to carry on as a family, just as Michael liked and still does. We live together at home. We do therapy. We’re doing everything we can to make sure Michael gets better and stays well.”

“We get on with our lives: ‘Private is private,’ as he always said. It is very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael has always protected us, now we protect Michael.”

Michael’s son Mick also commented in the documentary:

“Since the accident, these experiences, these moments that I think many people have with their parents, of course no longer exist or only exist to a lesser extent. And in my opinion that’s a bit unfair.”

“I think Dad and I would understand each other differently now. Simply because we speak a similar language – the language of motorsport – and we would have a lot more to talk about.”

“And that’s where my head is most of the time. I think that would be so cool…I would give up everything just for that.”
