Suspect arrested after allegedly firing gun at SFPD officers in SoMa

At about 8:15 p.m., plainclothes SFPD officers were on duty in the area of ​​Mission and 9th streets when the suspect fired a gun at them, the department said on social media. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and with assistance from the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, the person was taken into custody, police said.

The police did not provide further information about the identity of the suspect.

Police said there were no reported victims of the shooting at this time. Officers searched the area for additional suspects but did not find any, police said.

In a statement on social media, SFPD Chief Bill Scott said: “Members of the SFPD were shot at this evening. This violent episode highlights the dangers our officers face every day. I want to thank our brave officers for their heroic work in arresting a violent suspect and taking him off the streets.”
