Who is the host of the Scare Tactics reboot? All about Flip

There are always pranks in between ScaremongeringViewers will spend time with Flip, the show’s creepy host.

Here’s how to watch

Scaremongering arrives Friday, October 4th on USA Network.

According to his official description, Flip is a ghostly teenager obsessed with horror films and fascinated by human fear. With a twisted kind of joy, Flip creates horrific cinematic scenarios and casts real people in the lead roles. This is where our pranks come from Scaremongeringa show that transports ordinary people into the middle of a horror movie for our pure enjoyment.

But we wanted a little more insight into the child, the myth, the legend Flip. So when USA Insider When we spoke with the president of Monkeypaw Productions and the series’ executive producer, Win Rosenfeld, we made sure we could give our new host a 4-1-1.

What inspires Scaremongering‘ new host Flip?

“If I’m being honest, it kind of came back to the Crypt Keeper. And to Elvira,” Rosenfeld explained Flip’s origins. “To this idea that there is actually a long, rich history of original monsters as hosts, and there is a certain level of satire [to it] We felt like it was a kind of love letter [this] Form of short story telling.”

The reboot’s host is a little different from the original Scaremongering on SYFY, which ran for a total of 114 episodes from 2003 to 2013 and was hosted at various times by Shannen Doherty, Stephen Baldwin and Tracy Morgan.

The very human enthusiasm of these hosts brought a special atmosphere to the table. Flip is something different. His presence, Rosenfeld explained, allowed them to “be a little weird.”

“That’s him [a] pretty mysterious figure and that balance of, ‘How much do we explain what the hell is going on here?’ We spent a lot of time on that,” Rosenfeld said. “Flip really doesn’t have much to offer on screen [time]but when he’s there, we try to convey… we still felt the need to connect with this faceless figure, and without many words.

“And I have to say, it was a really fun and exciting challenge for everyone at Monkeypaw to get that across,” he continued.

Ultimately, he said, Flip’s job was to “reflect the excitement of what we wanted to convey to the audience,” harkening back to the Crypt Keepers and Elviras who enjoyed their own shows so much (Tales from the Crypt And Elvira’s film Macabrerespectively).

“So he’s a joker, but he’s happy and cheerful,” Rosenfeld said. “We talked a lot about Loki: someone who just likes to be a downer. He enjoys this thing. He’s kind of distant from humanity, so he sees people as a little strange, a little worried about the wrong things. So I think “joy” was really important to us.

“By the way, I think there are still secrets we don’t want to talk about [with] Still turning around,” he added. “He’s not really human. He is something else. And I think that’s key because in a show that’s all about human emotions and reactions, he kind of lives outside of the human experience.”

Scaremongering Premieres on USA Network on Friday, October 4 at 10 p.m. ET. The debut episode will air simultaneously on Bravo, SYFY and E! broadcast.
