1 person dead after shooting near West Ashley in Charleston: CPD

One person died after a shooting Thursday evening in the West Ashley area of ​​Charleston, said Sgt. Chris Stinson, spokesman for the Charleston Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting near Bees Ferry and Highway 17 at 8:37 p.m. Officers patrolling the area spotted a vehicle on Savannah Highway between Bees Ferry Road and Main Road with a single adult occupant who was pronounced dead, Stinson said.

There were no arrests or any other injuries. Police said the public should expect delays on the Savannah Highway while investigators investigate.

Police are asking anyone driving on Savannah Highway near Parker’s Kitchen between 8:30 and 8:40 p.m. Thursday to call 843-720-2422 and ask to speak to the detective on duty.
